Libby Trickett urges people to get their ‘bits checked’ after hospital procedure

“I just navigated a colonoscopy prep with four kids — including gymnastics, dinner, bath, bed, breastfeeding, pulling out a tooth and school run for three of them,” she wrote on Instagram on Friday.

“I CAN LITERALLY DO ANYTHING!!!

“Also, go and get your bits checked, whether it’s skin, cervix, prostate, breasts, colons.

“Do yourself and your family a favour – just go and do it.”

Libby Trickett’s sad announcement: ‘Finally made a decision’

Libby Trickett: I cried today. This is why

Trickett hashtagged her post: “That was a lot but I did it”, “It’s not a pleasant lemon taste” and “here for the little sandwiches after”.

A colonoscopy is a medical procedure to check for signs of cancer in the large intestine or rectum.

Preparation for the procedure involves a thorough purging of the bowel via a prescribed medication.

In one photo posted to Instagram, Trickett gave a thumbs up to the camera in her hospital gown.

In another, she shared a picture of the Picolax lemon powder drink she had to consume before the colonoscopy to clean her system out.

Trickett’s followers appreciated the health reminder, and congratulated her on her ability to multi-task.

“Libby! Oh my GOODNESS! Sending so much love,” one follower wrote.

“Time to treat yourself with a big, beautiful rest. ❤️”

“Oh, this is actually your greatest achievement,” said another.

Fellow former swimmer Giaan Rooney agreed, writing: “Real world achievements 💪🏼.”

Trickett and her husband Luke welcomed their fourth child, a boy called Alfie, in May 2023.

They also have three daughters, making for a very busy household.

Trickett writes regularly about the pressures of juggling the various demands of her life, reminding people that it’s ok to feel overwhelmed at times.

‘Big shift’

Recently, she announced that she was withdrawing from her university studies, saying she felt “sad and relieved”.

“A big shift has happened for me,” she wrote on January 4.

“A few weeks ago, I finally decided to withdraw (from) my uni studies.

“It’s something I’ve thought long and hard about but finally made the decision and have withdrawn.”

Trickett, who was studying for a Bachelor of Counselling, said she felt it was “absolutely the right choice” for her, given all her other commitments.

“Maybe there will be study in my future but I don’t have the time to put towards right now and that is ok,” she said.

Her followers praised her for knowing her limits.

“Ah, the sweet, sweet relief of being exactly who you are meant to be in this very moment,” one person wrote.

“It’s a journey to get there. But it’s awfully lovely to find ‘home’. Go you!”

“I’m glad you are doing what feels right for you,” said another.

“I think you are fantastic ❤️.”

“Sounds like you’ve made absolutely the right decision,” added a third.

“You’ll love the sense of freedom without assignment stress!

“You can finish the degree when you’re 80.”
