Australian sporting power couple Matt Short and Madi Wilson have announced their engagement, just months after going public as a couple.
Short, the BBL cricket star who made his international debut earlier this year, and Wilson, who is an Olympic swimming gold medallist, shared the news in a joint post shared on Instagram on Friday night.

The post, spruiking Wilson’s new ring, was simply captioned: “20/10/23 YES.”
The athletic pair officially went public in January when they attended the Australian Cricket Awards together.
Aussie’s blistering new world record
The post was flooded with well wishes from a host of swimming and cricketing stars.
“Congrats my lovely,” Ariarne Titmus said.
Bronte Campbell added: “Love, love! Stoked for you two.”

Campbell’s sister, Cate, also left a message: “Love, love, love this!!! Congratulations.”
As did Short’s Victorian Sheffield Shield teammate, Scott Boland, who simply left a clapping emoji.
Mollie O’Callaghan, Giaan Rooney, Kaylee McKeown, Emily Seebohm, Jenna Strauch, Zac Stubblety-Cook, Shayna Jack and Adam Hose were among the other dozens of sport stars to comment.
Wilson is a veteran of Australian swimming and won two gold medals as a member of the women’s 4x100m freestyle relay team at the Rio Olympics in 2016 and the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
The 29-year-old is a current holder of five relay world records and became well-known early in her career when she dated Kyle Chalmers.

Short was the leading run scorer during BBL12, scoring 458 runs at an average of 35.23, with a a new personal best score of 100 not out against the Hobart Hurricanes, and two other half-centuries.
He was awarded the Big Bash League’s player of the tournament at Australian cricket’s night of nights earlier this year.
“Ending BBL12 thanks for all the messages and support, hopefully bigger things next year,” Short wrote on Instagram in January.
“Deserves the hardest launch,” Wilson wrote on her Instagram post at the time, along with a rocket emoji.

“I’ve got Adelaide to thank,” Short said as he accepted the award.
“I’ve been there for five years now. The first few years didn’t go to plan but to be given the chance up the top of the order there, that’s where I thrive.”
